Production of a Complex-Geometry Engine Component by Selective Laser Melting Additive Manufacturing Using Co-Cr Alloy Powder Produced by Gas Atomization
Within the scope of the project, Co-Cr alloy metal powder was produced by gas atomization using the infrastructure of the Advanced Alloys Manufacturing Center at Sivas University of Science and Technology. The produced powder was then used to manufacture a critical turbojet engine component by Selective Laser Melting. During the project, powder production parameters were developed, SLM process parameters were optimized to obtain high-density parts, and suitable build orientations and support structures were determined. As a result, a domestic manufacturing capability covering the entire process from alloy powder production to the final component was successfully demonstrated for Co-Cr alloys of strategic importance to the defense industry.
